Care packages

Everyone deserves the right to be prepared. Our care packages give families and individuals affected by disasters a place to start.

Purpose

A starting point for being prepared

Care packages are distributed to families and individuals affected by disasters, with the aim of promoting the importance of emergency preparedness. The most challenging part of trying something new, like creating an emergency kit, is knowing where to start.

We encourage expanding and personalizing the kit you receive to better suit your needs. Consider adding items for your specific location or situations you might encounter.

What to include

You don’t need all of these, but gather as many as you can. And don’t skip the games: being stuck for hours with no distraction is hard on anyone.

  • Masks
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Flashlight
  • Blankets
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Band-Aids
  • Cotton balls
  • Unscented lotion
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Books, games, or puzzles
  • Notepad
  • Pens & pencils
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Disposable utensils
  • Kleenex pack
  • Disposable rain poncho
  • Whistle

Kits vary in size and shape but should always be easy to reach and easy to spot in an emergency. A shoebox or a ziplock bag works great.

Don’t wait for disaster to strike
