Who we are
ShockResQ, Corp. (“ShockResQ,” “we,” “us”) is a youth-led nonprofit organization (EIN #99-1021250) that provides disaster relief, preparedness education and care packages to communities in need. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit shockresq.org (the “Site”), volunteer with us, request a care package, donate, or contact us.
Information we collect
Information you give us. We only collect personal information that you choose to share, such as:
- Your name, email address and message when you email us.
- Details you enter in our volunteer sign-up form, such as your name, contact information, age or grade, school and availability.
- Your name, contact information and general needs when you request a care package.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the time of your visit. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or rent your information.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and messages.
- To organize volunteers, events, drives and care package deliveries.
- To thank donors and, where applicable, provide donation acknowledgments.
- To share occasional updates about our work, if you ask to receive them.
- To keep the Site secure and working properly.
Donations
Donations are processed by Venmo, a third-party platform. We do not receive or store your full card or bank details. Venmo handles your payment information under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review. We may receive your name, the amount you gave and any note you include.
Third-party services
We rely on trusted services to run the Site and our programs. Each may process limited information on our behalf:
- Netlify hosts this website.
- Google provides our web fonts and the Google Forms we use for volunteer sign-ups.
- Venmo processes donations.
- Instagram and Facebook host our social media pages.
When you leave our Site through a link, the other website’s privacy policy applies.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above, with partner organizations when needed to deliver a program you asked to take part in (for example, coordinating a care package delivery), or when required by law.
Young volunteers and children’s privacy
ShockResQ is youth-led, and many of our volunteers are students. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without consent from a parent or guardian. Volunteers under 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission before signing up or taking part in events. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Photos at events
We sometimes take photos at drives and events to share our work on this Site and our social media. If you would prefer not to appear in a photo, or want a photo of you or your child removed, email us and we will take it down.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required for our records and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us, and this Site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop sending you updates. Email us and we will respond as soon as we can.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page.
