Starting a Chapter
What is a Chapter?
A chapter acts as an extension of ShockResQ's nonprofit, bringing together a team to support your community during challenging times. Think of it like starting your own club, even if it's just 5 people or more. Instead of creating everything from scratch, it's a branch of a nonprofit organization, so you already have a foundation to build on.
The primary goal of starting a chapter would be to help prevent or mitigate future disasters in your community by creating Emergency Kits, distributing ResQ Bracelets, and sharing information from our CrisisIQ blog. Through a SRQ chapter, your work would involve aiding the homeless, trauma patients in hospitals, and other communities affected by disasters within your area. A chapter could represent a school club, a community group, or even an initiative for your city, state, or country. Each chapter offers a diverse perspective, yet all should ultimately contribute to ShockResQ's mission of aiding children, families, and communities in recovering from the shock of potential and current disasters.

Ensure a Successful Chapter
- Spread awareness about your chapter by utilizing your school or group's social media platforms or distributing flyers.
- In addition to a President and Treasurer, establish additional leadership roles within your chapter.
- Host regularly scheduled meetings.
- Maintain an active presence on your chapter's Instagram or other social media platforms.
- Recruit members and utilize a planner to effectively track your chapter's goals.

Setting up your chapter
- If your ShockResQ chapter is a school club or affiliated with a school, speak to your school administration BEFORE submitting an application.
- Apply/send your application to start a SRQ Chapter
- Interview with ShockResQ Directors
- Establish your Chapter's officers
- Set goals such as fundraising, advertising, and donation targets
- Recruit members and seek partnerships
- Clarify and highlight our mission for anyone interested in ShockResQ
